For those who are fans of Disney’s *Hercules* or have a fascination with ancient Greek mythology, Black Tomato has introduced a new adventure that brings the legendary tale to life in a family-friendly experience. The luxury travel company, known for its immersive and creative travel packages, has launched an exciting new itinerary as part of its “Take me on a Story” series, this time inspired by the epic mythology of Hercules. These unique travel offerings allow adventurers to step into the pages of their favorite stories, with past experiences including *Alice in Wonderland* and *Treasure Island*. This new addition focuses on following in the footsteps of Hercules, taking travelers on a mythical journey through Greece.
The nine-day odyssey takes participants across Greece, drawing inspiration from the legendary 12 labors of Hercules. Families will be tasked with completing challenges based on these iconic labors, creating an interactive and engaging way to explore the country’s rich cultural history. The adventure begins in ancient Athens, with accommodations at the Athens Capital M Gallery Hotel. After receiving a symbolic blessing from the goddess Athena at the Acropolis, participants will learn the basics of reading and writing in ancient Greek as they embark on a treasure hunt through the city’s historic landmarks.
From Athens, travelers will set sail across the Saronic Gulf and visit the famous Temple of Poseidon. Here, guests will race to swim ashore while collecting gifts, echoing the legendary contest between Athena and the sea god Poseidon. The adventure continues with a stop in Olympia, where families will compete in the ancient stadium where the torch for the 2024 Paris Olympics was lit. The journey then takes participants to Crete, where they will track down the mythical Cretan bull hidden among apple trees and oregano bushes in a thrilling scavenger hunt.
Other highlights of the trip include trekking through the oak forests of Foloi in search of the Centaur Pholus, solving riddles with the Oracle Pythia at Mount Parnassus, and crafting a personalized artifact with the help of a skilled sculptor. According to Tom Marchant, co-founder of Black Tomato, this adventure offers valuable life lessons, drawing from the timeless themes of courage, perseverance, and humility that are central to the mythology of Hercules. He hopes that this journey will inspire families to create unforgettable memories while experiencing the rich cultural heritage of Greece.
The launch of this Hercules-inspired adventure coincides with a significant increase in travel to Greece, particularly among families. Black Tomato reports that 25 percent of its bookings for the fall season are focused on Greece, with families making up half of these reservations. This reflects a growing trend in multi-generational travel, as more families seek out immersive and educational experiences together. The cost for this unique itinerary starts at $49,000 for a family of four, which includes accommodations at luxury hotels such as the Dexamenes Hotel and the Domes of Elounda, as well as transportation, activities, and select meals.
