Anantara is enhancing the allure of rail travel in Vietnam with the introduction of a second Vietage train carriage, set to launch on Wednesday. This addition provides travelers with a luxurious means of exploring the stunning coastal cities of the Southeast Asian country. Unlike the British Pullman and Orient Express, which are entire luxury locomotives, the Vietage is unique as a single carriage that connects to the government-operated Reunification Express. The first carriage, inaugurated in 2020, travels daily between Quy Nhon and Da Nang. Now, with the second carriage commencing service on May 15, passengers can embark on a daily return journey between Quy Nhon and Nha Trang.
Nha Trang, the destination for the new route, is renowned for its exquisite beaches, vibrant diving spots, and delectable seafood. Additionally, the city is conveniently served by Cam Ranh International Airport, allowing easy access for travelers arriving or departing by air. The five-hour journey aboard the Vietage offers guests a luxurious passage through Vietnam’s picturesque countryside, showcasing water buffalo, lotus ponds, rice fields, and local flora and fauna. Along the way, passengers will encounter the mountainous province of Phú Yên, the charming city of Tuy Hòa, and the architectural marvel of Bình Thạnh Bridge.
Inside the Vietage, travelers are greeted by sleek modern interiors infused with Indochine design influences. The carriage features expansive picture windows that offer panoramic views, along with two private booths housing 12 reservation-only seats. At the onboard bar, guests can witness skilled mixologists crafting railway-inspired cocktails and mocktails. Complementing the delightful drinks is a selection of free-flowing wines, cocktails, beers, soft drinks, teas, and coffee throughout the journey. Passengers are treated to a lavish afternoon tea experience and a curated artisanal cheese and charcuterie platter. Additionally, a dedicated vegan menu is available for those with dietary preferences.
For an added touch of indulgence, passengers can pre-order caviar and premium Champagnes in advance of their journey. The onboard spa area offers 15-minute head and shoulder treatments, allowing guests to relax and rejuvenate during the trip. Despite its luxurious offerings, the Vietage by Anantara is priced significantly lower than the Pullman or Orient Express. A one-way ticket between Nha Trang and Quy Nhon costs just $420 per person, inclusive of afternoon tea, beverages, and the spa treatment. The train’s schedule accommodates different travel preferences, departing from Nha Trang in the afternoon and arriving at Da Nang after midnight, with a reverse journey departing Da Nang in the morning and arriving at Nha Trang in the mid-evening.
